Red Ridge Centre Red Ridge Centre - Personal development through the medium of outdoor pursuits

Comments that make it all worthwhile

"Superb activities for pupils with learning difficulties - high, satisfying challenge and a very high standard of tuition. I have been for a number of years now, and have always had a most enjoyable and rewarding week."  Tony Smith (Head Teacher, Dorothy Goodman Special School, Hinckley)

"I was expecting a highly organised set up with excellent standards and I was not disappointed. What I was not expecting was the total acceptance of our residents as themselves and the immediate rapport that built up between them and the Centre Staff. This is essential to establish the trust needed to attempt the challenges that faced our group last week. I was also impressed by the total commitment of the staff".  Head Occupational Therapist. Carshalton

"I also overcame some of my fears that I would never have conquered without your help"  Tom

"One of the best residentials I have ever experienced  Melton College

"I cannot believe what I've been able to achieve since I left my house. I kept telling myself that I've abseiled off a fifty foot drop and crawled on my stomach and sat in a cave in the dark - and I do feel wonderful about that."  D.Lyons.Teacher

"I think your staff were absolutely marvellous - to work so hard, be skilled and to have such patience. I cannot praise them enough. The relaxed and caring atmosphere that you create was so much appreciated"  Stowe Teaching Unit

"Thank you so much for sending Humpty back. Sorry he was so naughty but he enjoyed himself so much that he wanted to stay so he hid under the pillow"  Gemma

"Thank you for making our holiday a resounding success. Your staff had the patience of saints! The activities were "just right" for our pupils."  Condover Hall School.

"We want to express our heartfelt thanks for such a successful stay at Red Ridge last week. Bringing a group of 40 pupils with learning and physical difficulties to a centre for the first time poses many problems but my colleagues and I were delighted at the warm welcome and thoughtful preparation that had been arranged.
All the activities were led by friendly staff who had clearly responded to expert training. The equipment was professionally and imaginatively used and the flexibility within activities meant everyone felt they could take part. We felt safe and cared for and uniquely the pupils were taught at an appropriate pace and level right from the start. Red Ridge staff knew how to pitch their instructing so that our pupils learnt effectively, engaged appropriately and were encouraged constantly. They had fun and shared a huge sense of achievement. Thank you.
The centre is superbly well planned. Having led more trips than I care to count over the last 35 years, I have rarely found a centre so well equipped and never found buildings so carefully planned to meet the special needs of our particular pupils. It made the management of rooms, hygiene and property so much easier and you should be congratulated for maintaining the property to such a high standard.
Finally the food ... it was terrific and all of our pupils enjoyed the variety, the high standard of cooking and the generous portions - even the pupils with food fads! Thanks are due to your catering staff who were always cheerful and accommodating.
Our pupils have not stopped talking about the trip. The most reticent and retiring autistic pupil was the first to see me when we got back, he wanted to discuss 2006. So what's available please?" J Walden, Deputy Head, Arbour Vale School, Specialist Sports College.
